Stochastic Approach for the Prediction of PSD in Nonisothermal Antisolvent Crystallization Processes
نویسندگان
چکیده
A stochastic formulation for the description of cooling-antisolvent mediated crystal growth processes based on the Fokker-Planck equation is discussed. Previous results are further extended to include not only the additional degree of freedom (temperature) in the approach, but also to formulate the model parameters dependencies with the input manipulated variables (antisolvent flow rate and temperature) toward a global model to be used within all possible operating regimes. The obtained global models are used to define, for the first time, an operating map of the crystallization process, where asymptotic isomean and isovariance curves are reported in an antisolvent flow-rate-temperature plane. Input multiplicities are identified and validated both numerically and experimentally for the NaCl-water-ethanol nonisothermal antisolvent crystallization system. A Stochastic Formulation for the Prediction of PSD in Crystallization Processes: Comparative Assessment of Alternative Model Formulations
A stochastic formulation for the description of antisolvent mediated crystal growth processes is discussed. In the proposed approach the crystal size growth dynamics is driven by a deterministic growth factor coupled to a stochastic component. The evolution in time of the particle size distribution is then described in terms of a Fokker-Planck equation. In this formulation the specific form of ...

Objective(S): In this work, paclitaxel (PX), a promising anticancer drug, was loaded in the basil seed mucilage (BSM) aerogels by implementation of supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) technology. Then, the effects of operating conditions were studied on the PX mean particle size (MPS), particle size distribution (PSD) and drug loading efficiency (DLE). <stron...
متن کاملDrug Release Studies of Naproxen Agglomerates Produced by the Antisolvent Approach in the Presence of Hydroxypropyl Cellulose
In this study, the effect of recrystallization of naproxen in the presence of hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) on the release rate of drug was investigated. Crystals were generated by the anti-solvent approach using the HPC solution in water as the anti-solvent. The samples were subjected to various physicochemical evaluations such as crystal size, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier tran...
متن کاملDeveloping a Systematic Design Approach to Tailor Crystal Size Distribution for Mixing-Sensitive Crystallization Processes
The design of crystallization processes becomes more complicated when mixing affects the final crystal product quality (e.g., crystal size distribution and polymorphic form). Such mixing effects are more apparent in antisolvent and reactive crystallizations, which involve the blending of different fluids, and in large-scale crystallizers, where homogeneity cannot be easily achieved. In this pap...
